FAQs

What’s your theoretical approach to therapy?

I was trained from a systemic perspective that views change as fundamentally relational. It is in the context of our relationships— those we’re born into and those we choose—that we develop, struggle, and grow. This relational framework guides my approach to therapy. I am dedicated to building a deep connection with each client grounded in authenticity, compassion, and trust. From this foundation, clients can experience themselves fully and safely try out new ways of being. I focus sessions on my clients’ present moment experiences and use the relationship between us to explore opportunities for reflection and growth.

My practice is also integrative, meaning that, while I have a particular style and approach, I draw on various theories and models based on the specific and holistic needs of my clients. My primary modalities include person-centered therapy, experiential therapy, narrative therapy, attachment-based models, and mindfulness practice. I also draw on elements of cognitive-behavioral modalities and somatic therapy. In working with couples, my approach utilizes Gottman Couples Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). I have completed Gottman Levels 1 and 2 training.

Will insurance cover any of my therapy?

My practice is private pay, meaning that I am not currently paneled with any insurance providers. However, I can issue superbills, which are monthly receipts of payment that you may be able to submit to your insurance for partial reimbursement. Check with your insurance company about coverage for out-of-network clinicians and their services. Reimbursement rates may vary based on your therapist’s license type. I am an LMFTA

If your insurance company requests more information than is provided on the superbill, I can provide a summary and explanation of treatment; I will not supply a formal treatment plan or therapy notes. You retain ultimate responsibility for payment for services if your insurance company decides that this documentation does not meet their requirements for coverage.

What is outside your scope of expertise/who don’t you serve?

All clients deserve high quality care and a therapist with the training appropriate to their needs. For this reason, I do not treat the following issues, which are outside my domain of expertise:

If any of these issues arise during therapy, I will refer you to someone with that specialty or consider bringing an expert into our work.
